Badger Cure is a coalition of 45 Wisconsin businesses and organizations representing key industries including manufacturing, agriculture, and electric utilities. All of these rely on freight rail service to transport things such as coal, grain, and forest products that cannot be shipped economically by trucks or other means. Without access to competition for freight rail services, many of Wisconsin “captive shippers” have been hit hard by price increases and a severe decline in service that has far reaching effects on every facet of the state’s economy.

Badger CURE is working to ensure that Wisconsin’s rail customer issues are heard in the halls of Congress. To date, key members of Wisconsin’s Congressional legislation is supporting key legislation to address railroad issues, including Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI), sponsor of S.772, the Railroad Antitrust Enforcement Act of 2007, Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI), co-sponsor of S.772, Representative Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Representative Ron Kind (D-WI), Representative Steve Kagan (D-WI), and Representative David Obey (D-WI).
